The Threat You Cannot Ignore

Most livestock and equipment lost to wildfire is lost before anyone even calls 911.

You're not always on your land. Nobody is. And when a wildfire starts, whether it's a dry lightning strike, a power line down at the back fence, or a neighbor's field catching, the fire doesn't announce itself.

By the time the smoke is visible from your house, the fire may have already cut off the road to your barn. By the time you smell it, your horses may already be trapped. By the time emergency services arrive, the equipment shed may already be gone.

Most people who lose animals and equipment to wildfire don't lose them because they didn't care. They lose them because they didn't know.

See the fire start, not the aftermath.

A Barn Owl Camera Saved His Barn on Christmas Eve

Wayne G. wasn't looking for a fire. He was checking a motion alert he almost ignored.

Barn Owl camera footage capturing fire on farm property

The alert Wayne almost dismissed as a deer. It was his tool shed on fire. This is what he saw on his camera feed.

Wayne G. and his wife were home on Christmas Eve when his Barn Owl camera triggered an alert around 8pm. Like most nights, he assumed it was deer. They set it off on a nearly nightly basis. He almost put his phone down.

Instead, he pulled up the live feed on his phone. He noticed a bright light beyond the tractor shed that didn't look right. He walked to the window and witnessed his tool shed on fire.

He called 911. Within minutes, the local fire department was on scene. They sprayed water onto the adjoining tractor shed, which was nearly ready to break out into flames. The tractors were moved to safety. The tool shed was extinguished in minutes, keeping the loss to a minimum.

"If my Barn Owl camera had not been triggered by the movement of the flames, I dread to think of what the loss could have been."
